Questions answered
About the workshop, buying and selling vehicles, and ordering automobilia. If your question is not here, call us on 01825 740945.
I.The workshop
Where is the workshop?
At Unit 2, Hillsdown Farm, Twyford Lane, Horsted Keynes, East Sussex RH17 7DH: a secure rural farm setting on the edge of the Ashdown Forest, within easy reach of London, Surrey, Kent and the south coast.
Can I visit?
Yes, by appointment. Please call 01825 740945 or send us a message so that Julian can make time to show you round.
What kinds of vehicles do you work on?
Our specialism is pre-war motorcars: veteran, Edwardian and vintage. Marques that have been through the workshop include Bentley, Bugatti, Austin, Minerva, Darracq and MG, and we also work on veteran bicycles.
Do you conserve or restore?
Both. Our approach is to conserve wherever possible, repair if required and restore if necessary, and we talk the options through with every owner before work begins.
What work is done in-house?
Coachbuilding and metalwork (gas welding and the English wheel), ash framing and woodwork, cellulose and brush painting, signwriting and pinstriping, mechanical engineering, trimming and wiring. Where a car needs another specialist, such as a marque engine rebuilder, we work with people we trust.
II.Buying a vehicle
Can I see a car or bicycle before buying?
Yes. Vehicles are available to view at the workshop by appointment.
Why do some listings say ‘price on application’?
Some owners prefer not to publish a price. Call or send an enquiry and Julian will discuss the vehicle with you directly.
Can you find a particular car for me?
Tell us what you are looking for. Many vehicles are placed with collectors before they are ever advertised, and Julian has a wide network in Britain and abroad.
III.Selling a vehicle
How does selling through Julian Parker Ltd work?
We agree a simple written contract with you, present the vehicle with professional photography and a well-researched description, and market it to our network of collectors and through the specialist press and websites.
What does it cost?
No sale, no fee. We take no commission until after the buyer has paid and you have the funds.
What do you sell?
Historic motorcars and veteran bicycles of interest, particularly pre-war. Call Julian to talk about yours.
IV.Buying automobilia online
Is every piece original?
Our automobilia is period material from Julian’s collection and from other owners, described and photographed by the team. If a piece is a reproduction, the listing says so.
Do you ship overseas?
Yes. We ship tracked and signed-for across the UK and worldwide, with the cost shown at checkout. Insurance is not included as standard; please ask if you would like it added. Import duties and taxes outside the UK are charged separately by your local authorities.
Can I return something?
Yes. You have 14 days from receiving an item to tell us you would like to return it. See our returns policy for the details.
How can I pay?
By debit or credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay through our secure checkout. We never see your card details.
